RK Infra thermoplastic pipes

Introduction

SIA “District Heating Partner” is the only official representative of RK Infra GesembH insulated, flexible thermoplastic pipes in the Baltic States. Our cooperation partner in pipe sales is SIA “Evopipes”, while in thermoplastic pipe installation we cooperate with SIA “Talsu Bio-Enerģija”, SIA “UPB” and SIA “Prosan”, which also has experience in drilling and draging pipe into a metal casing under the river bed.

RK Infra GesmbH (previously Radius-Kelit Infrastructure GesmbH), is an Austria-based manufacturer with more than 40 years of experience in the design, production and sales of pre-insulated pipe systems. Product ranges include high-quality conventional rigid and flexible pipe products and a new class of flexible pre-insulated reinforced plastic pipe systems that open up new opportunities for heating networks. SIA District Heating Partner is official distributor of RK Infra products in The Baltic States.

Flexible pre-insulated thermoplastic pipe advantages over traditional steel pipes

Technical advantages:

  • Temperature and pressure that flexible pipe can withhold complies with district heating standards
  • Up to 3 times faster installation of pipe system
  • No corrosion risk to pipework, internally or externally
  • Lifespan +30 years at maximum operating temperature, lifespan increases as temperature decrease
  • Vastly reduced jointing due to 80m+ linear length coils, minimising weak points in the system
  • Improved flow rates achieved via less resistant plastic pipework resulting in lower pumping requirements and energy efficiency
  • Pre-insulated flexible pipes are easy to connect to pre-insulated traditional steel pipes
  • Heat loss benefits over traditional steel systems
  • Minimised expansion and contraction

Financial advantages:

  • Saving on installation costs – fast installation, less connections
  • Reduced civil works due to narrower trench and deletion of bell mouths for welding requirements
  • Shorter project – less management costs, shorter heating supply shutdown time
  • Heat loss efficiency saving energy annually (λ – 0,021 [W/m*K])
  • Lower frictional losses through flow rates saving annually on pumping costs
